Doris Mary Pieper was born on May 12, 1925 in Huron South Dakota to Bernard (Ben) and Effie Nenaber Pieper.   In 1933 she and her family moved to a farm near Lismore MN.  Doris graduated from St. Anthony High School in 1943.  She was employed at the Worthington Daily Globe until her marriage to Joseph Lorang on September 9, 1947.
Joe and Doris had 8 children, the youngest of whom died at 9 months of age.  Doris was the typical 1950's wife and mother.  She helped her husband with farm chores until her children were old enough to relieve her of that responsibility.  She maintained a well-run household and found time to bake delicious pies, cakes, and cookies. From pre-school age onward she delegated to her two oldest daughters both in the spirit of teaching homemaking skills, and to cope with her closely spaced children.
In her younger years Doris was active with a ceramics group, bowling, and all the Church activities at St. Anthony's.  These included working on the annual fall dinner, and cooking for parish members' funerals.  She was active in the Catholic Daughters of America.
Doris passed away on July 3 2014 at South Shore Care Center in Worthington where she had resided for the past 5 ½ years.  She was surrounded by her family who eased her final transition from life here on earth.
Survivors include her four sons Jerry (Rhonda) Lorang of Worthington, MN; Michael (Deb) Lorang of Worthington, MN; Mark (Janine) Lorang of Lismore, MN; and Kent (Ellen Lenz) Lorang of Lismore, MN.
Three daughters:  Jane (Honorable Don Rysavy) of Austin, MN; Nancy (Carl) Larson of Prior Lake, MN; and Marsha (Lonnie) Edwards of Heron Lake, MN.
Doris leaves nine grandchildren, Mark (Holly) Larson, Stephanie Larson, Justin (Allyson) Lorang, Jody (Lance) Holt, Laura (Ben Lutterman) Lorang, Nicholas Lorang, Joseph Edwards, Joshua Edwards, Janelle Edwards, six-great-grandchildren, Alex, Gabriella, Lucas, Benjamin, Nathan and Jacob, one sister, Donna Larsen of Bay City, MI; brother-in-law and sister-in- law, A.J. "Preacher"and LaWayne Lorang San Diego, CA, and nieces and nephews.
Doris is preceded in  death by her husband Joe Lorang in 1976, her infant son, Lyle in 1964, her parents,  sister Esther Reider in 1980, brother Cliff Pieper in 2009, sister-in- law Marion Pieper in 2010, her husband's two brothers and his seven sisters.
