DORIS HELEN EBERT, age 88, of Luverne, died Sunday, June 26, 2016, at the Sanford Luverne Hospice Cottage. She was born October 24, 1927, in Clear Lake, SD, to Jacob and Theresa (Grissmer) Warner. Doris grew up in Clear Lake and graduated from Clear Lake High School in 1945.
Doris married Vance L. Ebert on February 17, 1947, in Clear Lake. SD, and to this union three sons were born, Chuck, Jim & Paul. The couple moved to Luverne on December 3, 1955. After the two older boys left home, Doris & Vance became foster parents. She found it very easy to love someone else's child. Doris had worked at the Luverne Farmers Elevator; and volunteered at the Luverne Elementary School.
She was a member of St. Catherine Catholic Church in Luverne; and the WCCW. Doris enjoyed playing cards especially pinochle & 500, camping and family vacations.
Doris is survived by her husband of sixty nine years, Vance Ebert, Luverne; two sons, Jim (Mary) Ebert, Truman; and Paul (Dyan) Ebert, Big Lake; daughter-in-law, Terri Ebert, Luverne; six grandchildren, Jessica (Ethan) Harvey, Jake (Nicole) Ebert, Katie (Matt) Mostad, Sarah (Paul) Zebe, Amanda (Eric) Lammert, and Laurin Ebert; and eight great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Chuck Ebert in 2002; brother, Jim (Arlette) Warner; and two sisters, Marion (Gordon) Froiland and Donna (Ray) LaFrentz.
Visitation will be from 5-8 pm Thursday at the Dingmann Funeral Home in Luverne, with parish prayers at 7:30 pm. Visitation also one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am Friday at St. Catherine Catholic Church, in Luverne, officiated by Fr. Thomas Jennings. Burial will be in the St. Catherine Cemetery in Luverne.
