DOROTHY MAXWELL, age 85, of Hills, formerly of Luverne, died Friday, September 28, 2007, at the Tuff Memorial Home in Hills. She was born August 2, 1922, to parents Robert E. and Erene (Hagedorn) Staeffler in rural rock county. She attended county school in rural Hardwick. Dorothy was united in marriage to Ronald Maxwell on July 9, 1941 in Jasper, MN. They moved to San Francisco and then back to Luverne while Ronald served his country in Germany during WWII. Dorothy was a stay-at-home mother and active in the VFW Ladies Auxillary. She enjoyed playing bingo and doing crossword puzzles. Dorothy is survived by a son, James (Beatrice) Maxwell, Ellsworth, IA; a grandson, Ryan (Cindy) Maxwell, Sioux Falls, SD; three step-grandchildren, six step-great grandchildren; four brothers, Leonard (Margaret) Staeffler, Luverne; LeRoy (Vangie) Staeffler, Edgerton; Kenneth (Lorraine) Staeffler, Edgerton; Horton Staeffler, Gladbrook, IA; four sisters, Alice Scmuck, Longview, WA; Louise Kieback, Luverne; Agnes (Ben) Koens, Santa Maria, CA; Lois (Gerald) Lorenzen, Jasper; and sister-in-law, Leone Staeffler, Luverne. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ronald, two brothers, Irvin and Robert; three sisters, Myrtle, Irene and Vera.
