DOROTHY ELAINE McCUEN, age 88, of Worthington, died Friday, November 19, 2010 at the Sunset Hospice Cottage in Worthington. She was born on November 29, 1921 in Seward Township in Nobles County to parents George and Minnie (Utz) Gundermann. Dorothy attended rural school near Fulda. After her schooling she worked at the Worthington Regional Hospital as a nurse from 1943 to 1944. Dorothy was united in marriage on January 1, 1945 to Melvin Nathan McCuen at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Fulda. After their marriage, the couple farmed in Lorain Township north of Worthington. In 1983 they retired and moved to Worthington. On June 8, 2006, Dorothy moved into the Meadows. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Worthington and was active in the church circle for many years. She was also involved with the First Lutheran prayer chain and she taught Sunday school. She enjoyed gardening, bird watching, country music and traveling. Dorothy especially enjoyed square dancing and she was a member of the Turkey Trotters. Dorothy is survived by one son, Steve (Margaret) ?Mag? McCuen, Worthington; one granddaughter, Stephanie (Timothy) Kowalski, Waukegan, IL; brother, Richard (Juanita) Gundermann, Fulda; sisters, Lucille Hay, Marshall; and Genevieve (Norman) Rehnelt, Jackson; and one brother-in-law, Dale (Lois) McCuen, Thorton, CO; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Melvin on May 19, 1995, three brothers, Albin, Leonard and Clarence and one sister, Adella Lundeen.
