DOROTHY SWANSON, age 86, of Worthington, died Tuesday, February 23, 2010, at the Crossroads Care Center in Worthington. She was born August 2, 1923, in Minneapolis, to Chester and Ruth (DuFrene) Doxey. She graduated from Farmington High School. Dorothy married Alan Swanson on May 18, 1946, in Minneapolis. The couple lived in Sturgis, SD; and Milbank, SD, where Dorothy worked at Milbank Mutual. In 1962, they moved to Worthington, where Dorothy worked at Lakeview School and later at Henderson Financial Services. She was a member of the Nora Unitarian Universalist Church in Hanska; and the Worthington Regional Hospital Auxiliary and the Daughters of the American Revolution. Dorothy was an avid bridge player and belonged to several bridge clubs. She possessed a wonderful sense of humor. Dorothy is survived by her husband, Alan Swanson, Worthington; two children, Reid (Jane) Swanson, Los Angeles, CA; and Paula (Scott) Steve, Worthington; three grandchildren, Ryan Swanson, Portland, OR; Kyle (Rebecca) Steve, Los Angeles, CA; and Corey (Theresa) Steve, Sturgis, SD; and a great granddaughter, Quinn Steve, Sturgis, SD. She was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Dolores Busch.
