DOROTHY PRINS, (Mrs. Tony Prins) age 83, of Edgerton, died Sunday, April 10, 2011 at the Edgebrook Care Center in Edgerton. She was born on June 9, 1927, to parents, Sam and Jennie (Bakker) Brondsema, on a farm near New Holland, SD. She was a graduate of Corsica, SD High School. After ten weeks of summer school at Springfield, SD she taught in a rural S.D. school. After a couple of years of teaching there and three years of summer school, Dorothy taught at Leota Christian School, teaching 43 students in three grades. On September 1, 1948, Dorothy married Anthony (Tony) Prins. They were blessed with one daughter, Verla. For the first thirteen years of their marriage, they shared their home with Tony?s dad, Gerrit Prins. Dorothy helped Tony with their farming operation. In October of 1995, they moved into Leota where they resided until March of 2007, when they both became residents of Edgebrook Care Center in Edgerton. Tony passed away on April 2, 2008. Dorothy was a member of the Ebenezer Christian Reformed Church of Leota, she enjoyed spending time with her family, bus tours, reading and playing card games. Dorothy is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Verla (Bruce) Kreun, Chandler, MN; two grandsons, Arlyn (Melissa) Rylaarsdam, Edgerton, MN and Daryl (Bethany) Rylaarsdam, Chandler, MN; three great-grandchildren, Megan, Caden, and Emma Rylaarsdam, one brother, Harold (Alvina) Brondsema, Platte, SD; and a sister-in-law, Hazel Prins, Dassel, MN; and her dear Edgebrook roommate, Jeanette Vos and many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Tony, son-in-law, Marvin Rylaarsdam, brother, Richard Brondsema and a sister, Nellie Kuipers.
