Obituary

DOUGLAS MONTGOMERY HARPER SR., age 66, of Perham, died March 1, 2010, at his home. He was born February 12, 1944, in Sioux Falls, SD, to Orville and Lorene (Mastin) Harper. Doug married Marlys Rabenberg on June 27, 1983, in Bloomington. After their marriage, the couple resided in South Minneapolis where Doug owned & operated Associated Heating until 1990. He later owned & operated Abe Lincoln Coin Shop until 2000. The couple moved to Perham in 2006. He was an avid fisherman. He enjoyed metal detecting & his garden. Doug is survived by his wife, Marlys Harper, Perham; four children, Douglas Jr. (Kris) Harper, St. Paul; James Lee (Lori) Harper, Jadwin, MO; Loretta Lynn (Scott) Drews, Oakdale; and Curtis Carroll Harper, Bloomington; four grandchildren, Kyler Douglas Drews, James Harper Jr., Kyrsten Harper & Stefanie Harper; mother, Lorene (Don) Vestal, Mountain Home, AR; two brothers, Orville ?Bud? (Cora) Harper, Two Harbors; and Bruce (Alice) Harper, Springfield, MO; and two sisters, Edith (Jim) Broadwine, Sioux Falls, SD; and Bonnie Disselbritt, Park Rapids. He was preceded in death by his father, Orville; and a brother, Chuck. Visitation will be from 5-8 pm Wednesday at the Dingmann Funeral Home in Worthington; and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Thursday. Funeral will be 10 am Thursday at the Dingmann Funeral Home, in Worthington, officiated by Brian Frodermann. Burial will be at the Sunset Rest Cemetery in Rushmore.
