Krohn
January 22, 1924 – October 12, 2016
Duane H. Krohn, 92, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 11, 2016, at Ecumen Meadows in Worthington, Minnesota. He was born in Benson, Minnesota, on January 22, 1924, to William and Sada (Pierce) Krohn. He graduated from Fulda High School.
Duane was united in marriage to Nadine Gerber at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Worthington on September 21, 1947. She preceded him in death on December 2, 2007.
He spent his entire life building his farming operation which included feeding cattle and raising crops. Duane enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling, playing cards, pool, and golf. He especially enjoyed being with his family and grandchildren. Duane, known to many as "Lefty," spent his younger years pitching baseball for several teams in the Worthington area, including the Worthington Cubs. He also pitched in the Georgia Alabama Minor Leagues for the Newman Brownies in 1947. Many of his nephews have memories of him pitching to them when they were kids.
He was a member of the Worthington Elks Lodge and served on the board of directors of Consolidated Cooperatives and the Watershed Board.
He is survived by four sons: Mike (Mary) Krohn, Marshfield, WI; Dave (Wendy) Krohn, Kewadin, MI; Tom (Jane) Krohn, Worthington, MN; and Lou (Lesley) Krohn, Rowena, SD. He is further survived by a sister, Wanda Espeset, Rochester, MN, eight grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers: Verne, Bill, and Bob, and one sister Audra O'Claire.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
Memorial donations may be made to the Worthington Hospice.
