DUANE ?O.D.? RUSSELL MARTENS, age 74, of Rushmore, died Wednesday, November 03, 2010, at his home. He was born September 28, 1936, in Rushmore, to Harm and Alma (Hackmann) Martens. O.D. was raised in Rushmore. He graduated from Worthington High School in 1954. O.D. married Shirley Anderson on November 28, 1955, in Faribault. After their marriage, the couple lived in Rushmore. O.D. owned & operated Rushmore Gas for over thirty five years, before retiring in 2000. He enjoyed playing cards & fishing. O.D. is survived by his wife, Shirley Martens, Rushmore; two children, Rick (Sheila Maxwell) Rushmore; and Cindy (Scott) Kunze, Minnetonka; grandson, Joey (Jill) Roush, Ashton, IA; sister, Mary Jean (Homer) Malmquist, Balaton; brother, Daryl (Alicia) Martens, California; and nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Emily Mae Kunze, in 1997; and a brother, Clifford Martens. Funeral will be 2 pm Saturday at the Dingmann Funeral Home, in Worthington, officiated by Rev. Juanita Harberts. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Saturday.
