EDNA BRAUN, age 93, of Worthington, was called from her earthly home on Monday, December 12, 2016. She was born March 18, 1923, on the family farm north of Worthington, to her parents, John and Doris (Kunze) Graff. She attended country school in rural Worthington.
Edna married Otto Braun on December 20, 1943. The couple farmed north of Worthington before moving to the farm west of Worthington. Otto died on November 1, 1986. Enda moved off of the farm and became a resident of the South Shore Care Center, in Worthington, on April 18, 2011.
She was a member of the Bethel Presbyterian Church in Reading; and the Worthington Turkey Trotters. Edna was an excellent seamstress. She made many of her square dancing dresses. Edna and Otto loved square dancing. She also enjoyed cooking, baking and camping. Edna loved to drink tea and had many visitors stop by and enjoy her company. She would always wave from her window. She instilled in her family her love for the outdoors and animals.
Edna is survived by her two children, Pamela Jones, Worthington; and Michael (Judy) Braun, Worthington; seven grandchildren, Jennifer (Mike) Bousema, Jeff (Kathie) Jones, Tom (Jana) Jones, Mason (Elyce) Braun, Andy (Kim) Braun, Sarah (Chad) Nickel and Dan Braun; fourteen great grandchildren, Olivia, Alyssa, Erica and Angela Bousema; Ashley and Payton Braun; Tanner, Easton, Carter and Jacelyn Braun; Kya, Kory, Riley and Sadie Nickel; and Macy Jones; great grandson, Coltan Braun; sister, Agnes Krull, Adrian; and many nieces & nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Otto; son-in-law, Rick Jones in 2013; an infant granddaughter, Tina Braun; two brothers, Raymond & Marvin Graff; and six sisters, Helen Cam, Luella Sevdy, Lillian Cunningham, Mildred Aanenson, Alice Krull and Mavis Appel.
A memorial service will be 2 pm Friday at the Dingmann Funeral Home, in Worthington, officiated by Donald Groninga. A time of fellowship will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Friday. A private family burial of cremains will be in the Sunset Rest Cemetery, in Rushmore, at a later date.
