EDNA MAE WEST, age 93, of Luverne, died Wednesday, November 23, 2011, at the Mary Jane Brown Home in Luverne. She was born May 11, 1918, in Kalispell, MT, to Fred and Anna (Lingbeck) Briggs. She attended school in Springwater Township.
Edna married Gilbert West on December 17, 1935, in Sioux Falls, SD. After their marriage, the couple working on a farm in Doon, IA until moving to Luverne in the late 1930's. Edna worked as a cook, for over thirty years, for various café's in Luverne.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Luverne. She enjoyed baking, sewing, crocheting, playing cards and especially spending time with her family.
Edna is survived by her daughter, Jan Larsen, Fremont, NE; six grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren; and a great great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gilbert; daughter, Delores Bly; and two brothers, William & Alfred Briggs.
Funeral will be 1 pm Tuesday at the United Methodist Church, in Luverne, officiated by Rev. Donn Rakow. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. Burial will be in the Maplewood Cemetery in Luverne.
