EDNA M. GOEMBEL, age 96, of Luverne, died Friday, January 15, 2010, at the Parkview Manor Nursing Home in Ellsworth. She was born October 31, 1913, in Rock County, to August and Margareth (Frahm) Lange. She was educated in the rural school system. Edna married Russell Goembel on May 20, 1933, in Rock Rapids, IA. After their marriage, the couple farmed in Rock County. Later, they divorced. She was a lifetime resident of Rock County. Edna held many jobs in the food service industry. She worked at the Mary Jane Brown Home, in Luverne, for many years before her retirement. Edna enjoyed growing flowers and raising parakeets & canaries. She cherished the time spent with her grandchildren who visited her almost daily. Edna is survived by her eight children, Keith (Jan) Goembel, Lennox, SD; James (Marvella) Goembel, Luverne; Glenn Goembel, Luverne; Barbara (Don) Ossenfort, Rapid City, SD; Diane (David) Stearns, Luverne; Daryle (Sonja) Goembel, Luverne; Bryce (Maggie) Goembel, Luverne; and Larry Goembel, Luverne; twenty one grandchildren; twenty four great grandchildren; three brothers, Bob Lange, Beaver Creek; Don (Ann) Lange, Adrian; and Rodney Lange, Luverne; and a sister, Florence Utley, Kansas. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Sharon Goembel, in 1945; son, Clifford Goembel, in 1962; and a granddaughter, Debra Goembel.
