ELAINE JUNE CLAUSSEN, age 90, of Hardwick, MN; died, Friday, June 22, 2012 at the Tuff Memorial Home in Hills, MN. She was born June 17, 1922 in Luverne, MN; to parents Henry and Alma (Lagemann) Petersen .She was baptized on August 1, 1937 and confirmed on April 24, 1955. She attended country school at District #75 in rural Luverne. After her schooling she remained on the family farm and helped her family with the farming.
Elaine was united in marriage to William (Bill) Claussen on March 21, 1943. After their marriage the couple farmed northwest of Hardwick. They retired in 1972 and moved into Hardwick in 1980. She became a resident of the Tuff Memorial Home on September 17, 2008.
Elaine was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hardwick and was an honorary member of the LWML. She enjoyed gardening, baking cakes and cookies, embroidery and was an avid reader. Elaine especially enjoyed her dogs.
She is survived by her children, Sharon Crotteau, Louisiana; Sandra (Raymond) Doeden, Aitkin, MN; Darrell Claussen, Phoenix, AZ; and Dale Claussen, Hills, MN; six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and a sister-in-law, Florence Petersen, Tucson, AZ.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband William in 1985, four brothers, three sisters and one grandchild.
