ELAINE THONE, age 91, of Luverne, died Friday, November 4, 2011, at the Sandford Hospice Cottage in Luverne. She was born August 12, 1920, in Luverne, to Ore Daniel and Pearl (Gore) Smith. She attended school in Luverne.
Elaine was united in marriage to Clarence "Abe" Thone on January 10, 1941, in Sibley, IA. After their marriage they moved to Luverne. Elaine helped run the family business, Thone Implement, for many years. She also helped renavate many houses they acquired and moved to town. She did a good share of the management and upkeep of their rental properties.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church, in Luverne, where she taught Sunday School, Bible School, served as a Deaconess, custodian and most special to her, a Soul Winner. She enjoyed card playing and spending time with her family.
Elaine is survived by two sons, Greg (Judy) Thone, Luverne; and Terry (Mary) Thone, Luverne; two daughters, Sharon Mulvihill, Luverne; and Sunny McClure (Don) Reich, Palisade, MN; twelve grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren and nine great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clarence, in 1994, two brothers, four sisters, a beloved great grandchild Wendy Bosch, in 2007, and a son-in-law Gary McClure, in 2005.
Visitation will be from 6-8 pm Monday at the Dingmann Funeral Home in Luverne; and one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.
Funeral will be 11:00 am Tuesday at the First Baptist Church in Luverne, officiated by Rev. Richard Lauger. Burial will be a private service prior to the funeral service in the Maplewood Cemetery in Luverne.
A tree will be planted in memory of Elaine Thone, by Sanford Hospice of Luverne.
