ELEANORE ROSE GRETILLAT, age 88, of Luverne, died Sunday, March 12, 2023, at the Mary Jane Brown Good Samaritan Center in Luverne.  She was born 7th of 11 children to Phillip and Mary (Owens) Kleindl on a farm west of Blue Earth, MN on June 19, 1934.  She went to country school through the 8th grade, then to Blue Earth High.  She was the first in the family to have a high school education. She was united in marriage to Edward Gretillat in Blue Earth on September 19, 1955.  They farmed in the Lakota/Ledyard Iowa area for a number of years.  Ed was always a farmer, (his love).  After retiring from farming, they lived in Elmore, MN for twelve years before moving to Blue Earth in 1975.  Ed passed away on August 23, 1986.  In 1992, Eleanor moved to Luverne. Eleanore worked numerous places throughout the years.  She worked at St. Lukes Nursing Home as a nurse's aide, the Green Giant canning factory, Telex Communications for eleven years.  After Ed's death, she moved to Kaunikukai, Molokia, Hawaii, working as a health provider for a Hawaiian couple.  She moved back to the mainland and received her nurse's aide certificate from a nursing home in Sturgis, SD.  She moved to Luverne and worked for Mary Jane Brown for five years, DAC, and the Veterans Home for a short time, and last she was employed by SMOK of the Rock County Family Services for eight years.  She retired and moved to the Centennial Apartments in 1997. She enjoyed reading, crossword and jigsaw puzzles, Bingo and Rummikub, and visiting with family and friends. Eleanore is survived by her two children, James Gretillat (Raberta Miller), Oakes, ND; and Cheryl (Scott) Griebel, Luverne; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Beverly Curran, Rochester, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; four brothers, Leonard, Benard, Kenneth and Michael; five sisters, Charlotte, Edna, Phyllis, Agnes and Barbara.
