Obituary

ELEANORE CHRISTINE CHRISTENSEN JOHNSON, age 95, of Luverne, died Sunday, March 8, 2015, at the Mary Jane Brown Good Samaritan Center in Luverne.  She was born September 27, 1919, in Sandstone Township, in Pine County, MN, to Jacob and Bertha (Dixon) Christensen.  She attended Bear Creek School in Askov, MN.  She worked for local farmers doing different chores after she finished school.
She was united in marriage to Harold "Shorty" Johnson on December 31, 1941, in Askov, MN.  After their marriage they farmed in South Dakota and Minnesota.  In 1957 they moved to Luverne where Eleanore worked as a waitress and also for Georges Bakery.  She started working for the Luverne School in 1970 and retired in 1979 due to health reasons.
She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Luverne, where she worked with the Ladies Aide.  She was a member of the Luverne American Legion Axillary.  She enjoyed Crocheting, Embroidering, going on walks, growing flowers and baking.  She always enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren
Eleanore is survived by her three sons, Arthur Johnson, Luverne; Dennis Johnson, Gulf Port, MS; Donald (Nancy) Johnson, Valley Springs, SD; two daughters, Marilyn (Earl) Madison, Adrian; Darlene Nagel, Adrian; nineteen grandchildren, forty seven great grandchildren, one great- great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harold, two sons, David and Merlyn, two brothers and a sister.
