Obituary

ELINOR BAGBEY, age 93, of Pipestone, formerly of Luverne, died Thursday, August 12, 2010, at the Pipestone Good Samaritan Village. She was born May 18, 1917, in rural Rock County, to Charles B. and Ethel (Kleine) Soutar. She graduated from Magnolia High School in 1936; and later attended Mankato Business School. Elinor married James Bagbey on September 26, 1939, in Long Beach, CA. After WWII, the family moved to Luverne. Elinor worked at Joe?s Appliance. She later volunteered with the VA Hospital Auxiliary in Sioux Falls, SD. She became a resident of the Pipestone Good Samaritan Village on June 12, 2006. She was a former member of the First Presbyterian Church in Luverne; and Past President of the Luverne Post 2757 VFW Auxiliary. She enjoyed crocheting, needlework, watching the Minnesota Twins, traveling and spending time with her family. Elinor is survived by her two sons, Stanley Bagbey, Lakeland, TN; and Steven Bagbey, Luverne; sister, Jean Hoffmeister, St. Paul; sister-in-law, Virginia Soutar, Luverne; brother-in-law, Joe (Linda) Bagbey, Lake Providence, LA; and many nieces, nephews & cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James Bagbey, on January 17, 1997; and a brother, Stanley Soutar.
