Elizabeth (Betty) Jongetjes . . . was born on June 27, 1916 in Hull, IA to Lammert and Elizabeth Van Bentum Jongetjes. The family farmed near Hull, Orange City, Ocheyedan, IA and Heron Lake, MN before moving to the Leota - Lismore area. Betty graduated from Leota Christian School. When her parents passed away, Betty along with two sisters and a brother continued to farm the home place. She loved to bake and do handwork. She continued to live on the farm until she moved to Edgebrook Estates in 2002. She moved to Edgebrook Care Center in 2007. She was a member of the Ebenezer Christian Reformed Church in Leota. Betty passed away at Edgebrook Care Center on Monday, September 24, 2007; 1:45 a.m. Entering the gates of heaven before her were her parents, her sisters, Anna Nyhuis, Gertie Klumper, Jennie Verbrugge, Frances Jongetjes and Minnie Jongetjes. Also her brothers Gerrit, John, Henry and Andrew Jongetjes. She is remembered by her many nephews and nieces.
