ELMER A. HAMANN, age 87, of Luverne, died Monday, May 21, 2007, at the Tuff Memorial Home, in Hills. He was born September 19, 1919, on the family farm west of Luverne, to August and Lela (Holmes) Hamann. Elmer was baptized on November 30, 1919; and confirmed on June 23, 1935 both at St. John Lutheran Church, in Luverne. He attended country school in rural Luverne. Elmer married Maxine E. Minnick on June 28, 1947, at St. John Lutheran Church in Luverne. After their marriage, the couple farmed west of Luverne. In 1954, they moved to the farm east of Luverne. Elmer retired in 1997. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church; an active member of the Luverne Eagles Club and the Luverne Lions Club. Elmer sponsored pool clubs at the Eagles. He enjoyed fishing & hunting. Elmer is survived by his three sons and daughters-in-law, August & Dianne Hamann, Luverne; Elmer & Patti Hamann, Aurora, CO; and Daryl & Lori Hamann, Sioux Falls, SD; daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn & Jake Aning, Luverne; six grandchildren, Tammy (George) Krenz, Nicole & Erica Hamann; Mike (Kandi) & Melissa Aning; and Justin Basche; brother, Dale Hamann, rural Luverne; and four sisters, Elsie Hemme, Ellsworth; Irene Hemme, Arlington; Alice (Ken) Schmuck, Brandon, SD; and Frances Siebert, Pipestone. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Maxine, on March 26, 1999; granddaughter, Amy Hamann, in 1979; and a brother, Virgil Hamann.
