Obituary

ELMER QUIMBY HOSKINS, age 95, of Luverne, died Tuesday, October 21, 2014, at the Barrett Care Center in Barrett, MN. He was born December 11, 1918, in Adrian, to Ralph and Cora (Midboe) Hoskins. Elmer graduated from Adrian High School in 1936. He later attended Dunwoody Institute with a Degree in Electronics. Elmer entered the United States Army Air Corp. in March of 1942. He served his country during WWII before being honorably discharged in 1946.
Elmer married Juanita Whitcomb on October 23, 1943, in California. The couple lived in Adrian and Luverne where Elmer owned & operated Hoskins Electric Motor Repair before retiring in 1982.
He was a member of the United Methodist in Luverne; the Luverne Chamber of Commerce; the Luverne Rotary; and the Royal Order of Scotland. Elmer also served as Past Master of the Roman Eagle Lodge, Past Sovereign Red Cross of Crista tine, Past High Priest Holy Royal Knight, Past Illustrious Master of Council Templar Priest, Past Commander of the Luverne Commandery #22, Past Grand Commander of Minnesota; and an Honorary Past Grand High Priest of Mexico. He was an avid photographer and loved photography.
Elmer is survived by his daughter, Joan (Brian) Eastlund, Alexandria; three grandchildren, Traci (friend, Mike) Sherman, Hendricks; Tim (friend, Brandi) Abell, Alexandria; and Lawrence Vandenbush, Fargo, ND; eight great grandchildren, Telia, Audri, Harley, Logan, Keenan, Izaya, Cayden & Dominic; and two great great grandchildren Catalina & Christian.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Juanita in 2008; three infant brothers; and two sisters, Doris Jederberg and Irene Packebush.
Visitation will be from 4-7 pm Tuesday at the Dingmann Funeral Home, in Luverne, with a Masonic Service at 7 pm. Visitation also one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. Funeral will be 11 am Wednesday at the United Methodist Church, in Luverne, officiated by Rev. Dorie Hall. Burial will be in the Adrian Cemetery.
