Obituary

ELMER J. SCHEFFLER, age 79, of Worthington, died Tuesday, June 3, 2008 at the Worthington Regional Hospital. He was born August 15, 1928, in rural Adrian, to John and Katherine (Gerardy) Scheffler. Elmer attended rural school in Little Rock Township. After his schooling, he was engaged in farming on the family farm. In 1950, Elmer served in the U. S. Navy during the Korean conflict and received his honorable discharge in 1954. Elmer was united in marriage June 16, 1955 to Rita Altman at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Lismore. They made their home in Worthington. In 1954, Elmer started working at the Worthington Power Plant as a boiler/engineer, and later worked in the same capacity along with maintenance at the Worthington Community College. He retired in 1993. Elmer was a member of St. Mary?s Catholic Church, Worthington. His interests were his car, following the weather, and working outside in the yard. He also loved visiting with friends and family, and enjoyed his grandchildren. Elmer is survived by his wife, Rita Scheffler, Worthington; three children, Nancy (Harold) Anderson, Lake Park, IA; Jean (Paul) Rosenboom, Worthington; and Dave (Mary) Scheffler, Lino Lakes, MN; 4 grandchildren, Sara, Emily, Hannah, and Isabelle; brothers and sisters, John (Ida) Scheffler, Cold Spring, MN; Rosemary (Raphael) Kellen, Pipestone; Celine Klein, Adrian; Henrietta (Ted) Bullerman, Adrian; Andrew Scheffler, Lismore; and Toddy (Jim) Voss, Adrian. He was preceded in death by his parents.
