ERIC "SHORTY" OTTO OBERMOLLER, age 92, of rural Brewster, MN; passed away peacefully on Friday, October 28, 2016 at the Sunset Hospice Cottage, Worthington. He was born June 8, 1924 in Hersey Township, MN; to parents, John Christian and Marie Chatarina (Utterman) Obermoller. He was baptized and confirmed in Trinity Lutheran Church in Brewster, MN. He attended Hersey School through 8th grade.
Shorty was united in marriage to Ruth Caroline Wick on November 29, 1946 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Rushmore. After marriage they farmed west of Brewster. In 1958, Ruth, Shorty and their two boys moved to their present farm east of Brewster. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Brewster and served on various boards and taught Sunday School. He also served on the Brewster Elevator Board. Shorty loved farming and continued working on the farm with his son Donnie until he moved to the Meadows in April 2016.
He had a strong work ethic, there was a time to work and there was a time to work. He enjoyed a good hand of pinochle, dancing to a good polka, laughing at a good joke until he cried, looking at crops, supervising grain harvest, gathering with family for meals at Pizza Ranch and visiting friends and relatives.
Shorty is survived by his two, Douglas and wife Susan Obermoller, Worthington; and Donnie Obermoller, rural Brewster; four grand-children, Andrew and wife Natalie Obermoller, Hawley, MN; Katherine and husband Michael Neel, Yorkville, IL; Sonja and husband Ryan Olson, Sioux Falls, SD; and Tracy Obermoller, Duluth, MN; ten great grandchildren, Ava, Layne, Norah, Finn, Svea, Leonidas, Aedan, Oliver, Emmett and Otis; three sisters-in-law, Lillie Obermoller, Worthington; Erma Wick, Worthington; and Vera Wick, Rushmore; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Ruth, and brother Heinz.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday November 1, 2016 at Dingmann Funeral Home in Worthington from 5:00-7:30 PM. Visitation will also be Wednesday one hour prior to the service at the church in Brewster. The funeral service will be Wednesday November 2, 2016 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Brewster at 10:30 AM with Reverend David McDonald officiating. Burial will be at Trinity Lutheran Church Cemetery following the funeral service.
In Lieu of flowers Memorials preferred to the Sunset Hospice Cottage in Worthington.
