ESTHER NESBIT, age 104, of Worthington, died Sunday, March 30, 2008, at the Worthington Regional Hospital, in Worthington. She was born July 8, 1903, in rural Nobles County, to Mahlon and Mabel (Good) Smith. Esther grew up in Nobles County. At the age of eleven, she moved to Montana before returning to Reading at the age of sixteen. She attended school in Montana & Reading. Esther married Bert Sapp in 1934, in Rushmore. After their marriage, the couple lived in Worthington. Bert died in 1950. Esther married Cliff Nesbit in 1962, in Worthington. Cliff died in 1971. Esther worked as a telephone operator for twenty five years, in Minneapolis, Reading & Worthington. She was a City Hostess for the city of Worthington for sixteen years & Home Service Director for the local gas company for eight years. Esther also worked as a switchboard operator at the Worthington Regional Hospital. She was a charter member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church, in Worthington; the Business & Professional Women; the Women?s Association; the Worthington Country Club and the Hospital Auxiliary. Esther was an avid bridge player. She enjoyed traveling and family gatherings. Esther spent the last 14 years of her life at the Meadows of Worthington. Esther is survived by her stepdaughter, Bea Mogen, Worthington; seven nieces, Joyce Rogers, Worthington; Jean (Cal) Christensen, Worthington; Esther ?Essie? (John) Boltjes, Minnetonka; Pudge (Larry) Comnick, Worthington; Nancy ?Duff? Bertrand, Worthington; Sharon ?Corky? (Richard) Robinson, Worthington; and Sandy (Larry) Brouwer, Sioux Center, IA; two nephews, Doug (Myra) Smith, St. Paul; and Jim (Sally) Smith, Burnsville; and many great and great great nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; three brothers, Zenus, Orville & Merlin Smith; nephew, Jack Smith; and a niece, Moureen Laird. Blessed Be Her Memory.
