ETTA SOPHIE HERONIMUS, age 94, of Rushmore, died Wednesday, December 26, 2007, at the Arnold Memorial Health Care Center, in Adrian. She was born March 18, 1913, on the Elsing family farm, in rural Rushmore, to Simon and Etta (Boots) Elsing. She attended District #84 country school in rural Rushmore. Etta married Dreese Heronimus on February 26, 1935, in Sibley, IA. The couple made their home in Larkin Township, northwest of Rushmore, where they farmed. In 1979, they retired and moved to Rushmore. Etta moved to The Meadows, in Worthington, in the fall of 2002. She was a member of the Eastfriesland Church of Christ, in Rushmore; the Dorcus Society; and an active member of the Rushmore Senior Citizens. She enjoyed raising chickens, gardening, needlework & bowling. Etta is survived by her four children and their spouses, Beverly & Virgil Stangeland, Spicer; James & Donna Heronimus, Brandon, SD; Shirley & Billy Whitaker, Appling, GA; and Randy & Tammi Heronimus, Adrian; ten grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; and three sisters-in-law, Mary Elsing, Rushmore; Gladys Elsing, Adrian; and Carrie Heronimus, Adrian. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dreese, on August 11, 2000; three brothers, John, Henry, & Herman Elsing; an infant sister, Annie; and a sister, Annie Meinders.
