EVELYN (BETTY) VIOLA REKER, age 90, of Worthington, formerly of Lismore, died Friday, March 6, 2015 at the Meadows in Worthington. She was born on June 2, 1924 in Alton, IA to parents, Otto and Anna (Konz) Probst. She attended St. Mary's school in Alton. After her schooling, Betty worked as a house keeper for various families.
Evelyn was united in marriage to Edwin Reker on November 19, 1946 in Alton. After the couple was married they moved east of Lismore and were engaged in farming for all of their married years. Edwin died on May 14, 1990. In September of 2013, Betty moved into the Meadows.
She was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Lismore and was also a member of the CCW. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, quilting, embroidery and playing cards.
Betty is survived by her children, Jan and Loren Reese, Adrian, MN; Wayne and Nancy Reker, Worthington, MN; Ron and Deb Reker, Janesville, MN; Larry and Joan Reker, Worthington, MN Gene and Barb Reker, Lismore, MN; Bruce and Cathy Reker, Rochester, MN; Dean and Teresa Reker, Schertz, TX; Donna and Dale Sohl, George, IA; seventeen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Edwin, infant son Keith in 1953, five brothers and four sisters.
Visitation will be from 4-8 pm Monday, with parish prayers at 4:30, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Lismore. Visitation will also be one hour prior to the service. The funeral service will be Tuesday at 10:30 AM at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Lismore, with Father Andrew Beerman officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
