FERN ARLENE BRUNS, age 91, of Brooklyn Center, MN formerly of Worthington, died Tuesday, September 24, 2019, at the Ecumen Prairie Lodge in Brooklyn Center. She was born October 21, 1927, in Flandreau, SD to Floyd and Mary (Nicholson) Hawkins. Fern Graduated from Slayton High School.

Fern married Andrew Bruns on July 28, 1950, in Avoca, MN. After their marriage they lived in Slayton where Fern worked at the Slayton Hospital. They moved to Worthington in 1968 and Fern worked for Campbell Soup Corporation and worked in the kitchen for Fred's Café for many years.

She was a member of American Lutheran Church in Worthington. Fern enjoyed working on puzzles of all kinds, reading especially newspapers and magazines, going to rummage sales and shopping with her daughter.

Fern is survived by her daughter, Kathy (Steven) Michels, Maple Grove, MN; grandson Jeremy Michels, Brooklyn Park, MN; and nieces and nephews

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Andrew in 1999; a brother, Milo Hawkins; and a sister Doris Leas.

Visitation will be from 1-2 pm Saturday at the Dingmann Funeral Home in Worthington.  Funeral service will be 2:00 PM Saturday at the Dingmann Funeral Home in Worthington, officiated by Pastor Sandra L. Carpenter. Burial will be in the Memory Gardens Cemetery in Slayton.
