FLOYD HENRY BUNTJER, age 84, of Worthington, died Friday, August 22, 2014, at the Sanford Worthington Medical Center. He was born June 27, 1930, in Summit Lake Township, near Rushmore, to Henry and Hattie (Aeilts) Buntjer. Floyd attended country schools near Rushmore. As a young boy he moved to Iowa. He worked for Graves Construction building churches & bridges.
Floyd married Clarice Ford on November 15, 1953, at the Melvin Methodist Church in Melvin, IA. To this union five children were born, Douglas, Kurtis, Dawn, Mark & Monte. The couple worked for Andy Mouw from 1954 to 1958 where they lived on a farm in Bigelow Township. In 1959, they moved to a farm south of Ocheyedan, IA. From 1960 to the present they have lived and farmed in Bigelow Township rural Nobles County.
He was an outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting & fishing especially with his grandchildren. Floyd also enjoyed partying with friends and helping Doug with his farming operation.
Floyd is survived by his wife, Clarice Buntjer, Worthington; five children, Douglas (Trudy) Buntjer, Bigelow; Kurtis (Julie) Buntjer, Pennock; Dawn (Michael) Buntjer-Tillman, Galloway, NJ; Mark (Kim) Buntjer, Long Prairie; and Monte (Shelley) Buntjer, Marshall; eleven grandchildren, Andrew, Hunter, Chad, Jami (Jay), Jadon, Katrina, Maria, John Paul, Luke, Briatta & Bailey; brother, Donald (Lorna) Buntjer, Worthington; and a sister, Helen Loeschen, Sibley, IA.
He was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Samantha Buntjer; and an infant twin brother.
A time of fellowship will be from 4-7 pm Tuesday at the Dingmann Funeral Home in Worthington. A memorial service will be 1 pm Wednesday at thr First Covenant Church, in Worthington, officiated by Rev. John Stewart. A private family burial of cremains will be at a later date.
In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred.
