FRANCISCO "CISCO" MEJIA, age 55, of Adrian, died Saturday, October 18, 2014, at the Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. He was born March 12, 1959, in Esteli, Nicaragua, to Ramon and Theresa (Beltran) Mejia. At the age of three, his parents died and Cisco was adopted by Rodolfo Rodriguez & Mathilda Moreno. He worked on road construction for the Nicaraguan Government during the Nicaraguan Revolution from 1982 to 1986. Cisco also worked as a chauffeur for the United Nations. He moved to the United States in 1993.
Cisco married Lori Gruis on May 29, 1999, in Adrian. The couple lived in Adrian all of their married lives. Cisco worked at Swift in Worthington, PM in Windom, Wiedert Dairy in Lismore and Pork Storks II in Rushmore. On April 11, 2008, Cisco became a US citizen and attended his Naturalization Ceremony in Windom.
He enjoyed farming, fishing and milking cows. He had a genuine passion for gardening.
Cisco is survived by his wife, Lori Mejia, Adrian; seven children, Marilu (Melio) Mejia, Nicaragua; Aleyda Mejia, Nicaragua; Adanalia Mejia, Costa Rica; Gilebaldo Jose Mejia, Worthington; Rosibel Mejia, St. Cloud; Jorge Luis Mejia, Adrian; and Bryan Mejia, Adrian; stepson, Chad (Kristine) Gruis, Luverne; seventeen grandchildren, Skarleth, Jose Francisco, Paolita, Roberto, Lorenzo, Rosa Linda, Becky, Nathalie, Iliana, Andrea, Alex, Mikey, Taylor, Tierra, Jordan, Riley & Kennedy; two great grandchildren, Marilu Skarleth & Madison; two brothers, Armando Mejia, Nicaragua; and Vincente Mejia, Nicaragua; four sisters, Emelicia Mejia, Nicaragua; Romona Mejia, Costa Rica; Victoria Mejia, Nicaragua; and Maria Inez Mejia, Nicaragua; and many nieces & nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Ingracio.
Visitation will be from 4-8 pm Monday at the Dingmann Funeral Home in Adrian; and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Tuesday. Funeral will be 2 pm Tuesday at the Dingmann Funeral Home, in Adrian, officiated by Rev. Richard Anderson. Burial will be at a later date in Nicaragua.
