GALE V. OLDRE, age 64, of Watertown, SD, formerly of Luverne, died Saturday, July 30, 2016, at the Sanford Luverne Medical Center. He was born November 29, 1951, in Camp Rucker, AL, to Vernon "Doc" and Aagot (Kvaas) Oldre. Gale attended Magnolia School and graduated from Luverne High School in 1969. He attended Jackson Vocational Technical graduating in 1971 with an associate degree in Auto Mechanics. He owned and operated G & G Auto Mechanics in Jackson, MN.
Gale married Laura Landhuis on June 16, 1972, at the Bethel Reformed Church in Leota. After their marriage the couple lived in Luverne, where Gale worked at Schoon Motors. He worked part time at Sturdevants Auto Supply while attending Southeast Tech School, receiving a degree in drafting before moving to Watertown, SD in 1983. He worked at Entercept in Watertown as a draftsman and later drafting and design manager until present.
He enjoyed gardening, playing cards, family outings, Sprint Car racing and especially driving his 1951 Chevy.
Gale is survived by his wife, Laura Oldre, Watertown, SD; son, Eric Oldre, Watertown, SD; siblings, Barb Oldre, Luverne, MN; Sharan (Gary) Honermann, Adrian, MN and Bryce "Doc" (Ellie) Oldre, Luverne, MN; nieces & nephews, Shelly (Keith) Spartz, Kristi (Randy) Liepold, Grant (Alicia) Oldre, Kirk (special friend, Brittney Block) Oldre and Macy (Caleb) Ellingson; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Linda (Con) Brouwer, Edgerton, MN; Wayne (JoAnne) Landhuis, Edgerton; and Ardean Landhuis, West Palm Beach, FL; nieces and nephews, Faron Brouwer, Vince (April) Brouwer, Sheila Brouwer, Jacob (Missy) Landhuis, Jessica Landhuis, Jeremy (Bethany) Landhuis.
He was preceded in death by his parents and in-laws, Joe and Esther Landhuis.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 4-7 pm at the Dingmann Funeral Home in Luverne; and also one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Funeral will be on Thursday at 10:30 am at Grace Lutheran Church, in Luverne, officiated by Pastors Cole McCormick & Kris Matson. Burial will be in the Maplewood Cemetery in Luverne.
