GARY LEE BRINK , age 68, of Rushmore, died Tuesday, April 20, 2021, at the Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls. He was born September 4, 1952, in Worthington, to Norman and Hendrine (Vander Maaten) Brink. After graduating from the Worthington High School in 1970, he attended Jackson Vocational Technical School in the electrical program.
He married Phyllis Miller on August 12, 1972, at the First Lutheran Church in St. James. The couple lived in Jackson, MN before moving to their family acreage near Rushmore. He was a member of the Southwest Bow Benders as well as an Eagle Scout and Scout master. Gary played a large role in creating a softball little league league in Rushmore and has sponsored a team for all of these years.
Gary started Gary's Electric Company in his garage in 1975. Being an electrician kept him busy but, he knew how to make time for his family. He enjoyed the outdoors such as ice fishing, camping, snowmobiling, horseback riding, and hunting deer/turkey/prairie dogs.
Gary is survived by his wife, Phyllis, Rushmore; three children, Darin (Sara) Brink, Marshall; Sheri (Corey) Van Der Brink, Rushmore; Jared (Cathy) Brink, Brookings; seven grandchildren, Cadence Brink, Spencer Brink, Aidan Van Der Brink, Harper Van Der Brink, Autumn Brink, Nolan Brink, Justin Brink; two siblings, Don (Kris) Brink and Nancy Mussetter; he is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Norman and Hendrine Brink; his mother-in-law & father-in-law Merle & Ellen Miller; and brother-in-law, Roger Mussetter.
Visitation will be held at the Dingmann Funeral Home in Worthington on May 4th from 4:00 to 8:00.
Funeral Service will take place at the St. Matthews Lutheran Church, in Worthington, on May 5th at 10:30
Private Burial Service and lunch for the family and pallbearers will follow the funeral service.
