GARY LEE ROSS, age 84, of Reading, died Friday, May 17, 2024, at the Sunset Hospice Cottage in Worthington. He was born September 1, 1939, in Reading, to Robert and Violet (Dickinson) Ross. He attended elementary school in Reading before graduating from Worthington High School in 1958.

Gary married Marjean Ohlenkamp on November 18, 1961, in the Immanuel Lutheran Church. The couple lived in rural Reading. Gary worked in construction before he began working at Campbell's Soup Co. in Worthington.

He was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church; the Southwestern Minnesota Coon Hunters; and the Chuck Wagon Racers of MN and IA. Gary also worked on his game farm where he raised many animals including pheasants, ducks, geese, deer and horses. He enjoyed working with his horses and had a chuck wagon racing team which raced in Iowa, Minnesota and Wisconsin. He also enjoyed raccoon hunting and car races.

Gary is survived by his wife, Marjean Ross, Reading; five children, Dean Ross, Fulda; Dale (Vicky) Ross, Fulda; Dan Ross, Reading; Dave (Stephanie) Ross, Reading; and Darcy (Brian) Spies, Reading; nine grandchildren, Cody Ross, Kyle Ross, Baylee Ross, Kalvin Ross, Lexi Ross, Jaimie Ross, Jacob Ross, Riley Spies and Kayla Spies; eleven great-grandchildren; and many nieces & nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter-in-law, Tammy Ross; grandson, Rudy Ross; three brothers, Robert, Darrel and Lloyd; and four sisters, Bernice, Della, Jean and Twilla.

A time of fellowship will be from 4-6 pm Thursday, May 23 at the Dingmann Funeral Home in Worthington. A memorial service will be at 6 pm Thursday at the Dingmann Funeral Home, in Worthington, officiated by Pastor Lance Isaacson. Burial will be in the Summit Lake Cemetery in Reading.
