GENE (PIZZA) SCHEIDT, age 59, of Worthington, died, Monday, October 31, 2011 in Rapid City, SD. He was born March 5, 1952 in Adrian to parents Jacob and Lauretta (Honermann) Scheidt. Gene attended St. Adrian Catholic School and graduated from Adrian High School in 1970. After high school he attended Pipestone Vocational School. He was employed with District #518 for twenty two years; and the American Lutheran Church for twenty one years.
Gene was united in marriage to Debra Jueneman on October 18, 1980 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Worthington. To this union they were blessed with two children, Jacob and Jay. In 1999, Debra and Gene went their separate ways.
He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Worthington. Gene was very passionate about sports and enjoyed watching his sons participate in sporting activities. He was also involved with coaching & umpiring baseball games. Gene operated the time clock for home basketball games. Family was very important to Gene and a highlight was when he and his two sons played on the same amature baseball team. He also enjoyed going to the casino to play blackjack.
Gene is survived by his two sons, Jacob Scheidt, Sioux Falls, SD and Jay Scheidt, Worthington; ex-wife Debra Scheidt, Worthington; brothers, Joe (Elaine) Scheidt, Adrian; Rod (Mary) Scheidt, Adrian; Steve (Deb) Scheidt, Worthington; sisters, Rose (Mike) Lenz, Pomeroy, IA; Katie (Klare) Schroeder, Rapid City, SD and Peg Scheidt, Arcadia, IA; and many nieces & nephews
He was preceded in death by his parents.
