GENEVIEVE ONLE HELMS, age 88, of Worthington, died Friday, February 18, 2011 at the Adrian Country Living Cottages in Adrian. She was born on August 19, 1922, in Worthington, to Frank and Dellcene (Lundgren) Nelson. On February 27, 1943, Genevieve was united in marriage to Claude Donavan Helms in Sioux City, IA. The couple lived in Worthington where Genevieve worked as a cook at the Senior High School for many years. She was a member of the Worthington Christian Church; and the Worthington VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed baking. Genevieve is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Beverly & Donald Van Dyke, Worthington; four grandchildren, Roxanne (Gary) Tieman, Irving, TX; Debra Van Dyke, Pipestone; Terry Van Dyke, Worthington; and Jeff Van Dyke, Worthington; three great grandchildren, Scott, Eric & Derek; four great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Jean, Verna Mae,two brothers, Dickie,Dennis and several nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Claude, on February 22, 2008; and a great-granddaughter, Molly. Funeral will be 2 pm Thursday, at the Worthington at the Worthington Christian Church in Worthington with the Rev. Ronald Ahlgren officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Burial will be in the Round Lake Cemetery.
