GEORGE J. MANN, age 92 of Luverne, died Sunday, September 21, 2008 at Sanford Hospital in Luverne. He was born September 11, 1916 in Luverne to parents, Albert W. and Hilda L. (Wulf) Mann. He was baptized on October 29, 1916 and later confirmed on June 21, 1931 all at St. John Lutheran Church in Luverne. George attended rural school in district four west in Rock County. After his schooling he farmed with his family south of Luverne and was involved with the 4-H program. He enjoyed working with livestock on the show circuit and also the Bones Cattle Ranch. George was united in marriage to Gladys Salzman on August 6, 1944 in Lake Benton, MN. After their marriage they made their home on the Mann family farm until 1999, when they moved into Luverne. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church and also the Luverne Lions Club. He also served on the advisory board of the Maplewood Cemetery Association. He always enjoyed farming and supported his children and grandchildren?s activities. George is survived by his wife, Gladys June Mann, Luverne; children, Gary (Marlene) Mann, Luverne; Gail Goembel, Edina; Judy (Dave) Gort, Willmar; Jerold (Pat) Mann, Luverne; Joyce (Tom) Soderholm, Worthington and JoAnne (Wayne) Landhuis, Edgerton; 12 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; sister, Eva Lu Hemme, Luverne. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Gregg, an infant granddaughter, Melissa, two sisters, Irene Rohlck and Alice Sherwood. Blessed Be His Memory.
