George C. Paraskeva, age 86, of Bismarck, ND, died Saturday, September 22, 2007 at the Sunset Hospice Cottage in Worthington, MN. George was born August 27,1921 in Cleveland, Ohio, to Constantine and Calliopi (Naoumidis) Paraskeva. He graduated from a technical high school in Cleveland and served from 1942 to 1946 in the US Army Air Corps. He was stationed mainly in Okinawa. After returning from the war he completed a degree in electrical engineering from Cleveland State College. He married Marie Davis Dunn on Nov. 6, 1948. He worked for the city of Cleveland in the power and light department for many years. In 1963, he moved his family to Bismarck, ND where he was Chief Engineer for Basin Electric Power Cooperative until his retirement in 1986. He was a member of the Masons and the Shriners. He loved hunting and fishing and after retiring spent several summers as a volunteer with the ND Game and Wildlife Dept. at their yearly fishing camps for kids. Over the years he also did other volunteer work with various organizations. He is survived by four of his children; Patricia Walz-Tracy (Brian) of Wasilla, Alaska; Ginny Hibma (Jim D.) of Worthington, MN; Connie Paraskeva of Mexico City, Mexico; and C. Allan Paraskeva (Beth) of Hillsboro, Oregon; four grandchildren, Jesse Walz and Lindsey, Laura and Kimberly Hibma; and three sisters, Katherine Hillas, Alexandra Talladino and Christine Spira and their families. He was preceded in death by his wife Marie in September 2004 and his eldest child Sandra Marie Paraskeva in 1983. There will be a private burial in Bismarck.
