Obituary

GERALD B. RIEMERSMA, age 86, of Worthington, died Thursday, October 9, at the Sanford Regional Hospital Worthington. He was born January 14, 1922, in Org, to parents, Bert and Ethel (Palmer) Riemersma. He attended school in Brewster and graduated from Brewster High School. After graduation, Gerald attended Northwestern College in Minneapolis. Gerald served his nation overseas, during WWII in the U.S. Army. After he was honorably discharged he drove truck and later farmed. On September 7, 1949, Gerald was united in marriage to Cleone Otto at the First Baptist Church in Worthington He also worked for Montgomery Wards and Nienkert Construction. Gerald also started his own janitorial service in Worthington and owned and operated Gerry?s Vacuum Repair Service in Worthington. He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Worthington, lifetime member of the VFW in Worthington and NRA.He enjoyed woodworking and horses. Gerald is survived by his daughters, JoAnn (Daniel) Kruse, Worthington; Joyce Lemke (Calvin Bosma) Worthington; Debra Harvey, Worthington; Barbara (Jeffrey) DeGroot, Worthington; Betty Riemersma, Brighton, TN and Susan (David) Zick, Prior Lake, MN; sons, Gerry (Margie) Riemersma, Worthington; Terry (Jane) Riemersma, Hammond, MN and Brent (Tonya) Riemersma, Worthington; 22 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren; sisters, Betsy (Bing) Coe, Havre, MT and Darlene (Loren) Green, Mountain Lake, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Cleone, one son, Larry, one grandson, Alexander and one sister.
