GERTRUDE CORA MEINDERS, age 88, of rural Rushmore, died Sunday, April 26, 2009 at the Sunset Cottage in Worthington. She was born March 20, 1921 in Becker County, MN; to parents Albert and Cora (DeGuise) Ponto. She graduated from Worthington Public High School. Gertrude was united in marriage to John ?Bud? Meinders on March 1, 1943 at the First Presbyterian Church in Rushmore, MN. After their marriage they farmed north of Rushmore. She was a member of the Bethel Presbyterian Church in Reading. She also was active in the Elks and a charter member of the Jolly Birthday Club. Gertrude enjoyed gardening, sewing, bowling, card playing and dancing. Gertrude is survived by her husband, John ?Bud? Meinders, rural Rushmore; children, John (Debra) Meinders, Egan, MN; and Gloria (Earl) Leidner, Lakeville, MN; five grandchildren, Susanne Leidner (Bruce) Heimerl, Michele (Matt) Sargent, Cynthia Meyer, Julia Meinders and Daniel Meinders; four great grandchildren, Joseph Heimerl, Tyler Heimerl, McKenna Meyer and Madeleine Sargent; sisters, Elsie Price, Lincoln, NE; Evelyn Behrens, Worthington and a brother Elden Ponto, Worthington. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother Carl Ponto.
