GLADYS M. CARLSON, age 95, died Monday, June 5, 2006 at the Maple Lawn Nursing Home in Fulda. She was born in Nokomis Township, Buena Vista County, Iowa to parents, Hulda and Henry Mahn. She was baptized and confirmed at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Alta, Iowa. She grew up on the family farm and attended country schools. She graduated from high school in Aurelia, Iowa in 1928. Gladys attended summer school (normal) and began teaching in a country school north of Alta. Gladys married Arthur T. Carlson in October of 1931. They farmed near Alta for ten years, where their three children were born. They then moved to a farm near Aurelia, IA for three years and then moved to a farm south of Fulda in March of 1947. In 1951 they moved to a farm in Osakis, MN. In 1960 they moved to Crystal, MN until Art retired and then they moved to a home on Lake Cowdry near Alexandria. It was there where they celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary in 1981. After Arthur?s death in 1985, Gladys moved to Worthington living first at Viking Terrace Apartments and later at Okabena Towers until moving to South Shore Care Center for one year before moving to Maple Lawn Nursing Home in 2004. Gladys was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Worthington. Gladys enjoyed fishing, quilting, traveling and spending time with her family. She is survived by her daughter, Myrtle Ramert, Fulda, MN; son, Donald (Marilyn) Carlson, Blaine; daughter-in-law, Eleanor Carlson, Minneapolis, MN; nine grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and seven great great grandchildren, and sister, Lucille Kullman, Storm Lake, IA. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Arthur, son, Arlon Carlson, three brothers and two sisters.
