January 2, 1933 – December 9, 2022
GLADYS MARIE FRICKE, age 89, of Round Lake, died Friday, December 9, 2022 at Sanford Worthington Medical Center. She was born January 2, 1933, on the "Old Murphy Place" in Sioux Valley, to August and Sena (Kluever) Froderman. She was baptized 1934, at the Lutheran Church in Worthington. Gladys grew up in the Sioux Valley Area. She attended school in Sioux Valley until the 8th grade and then attended school in Round Lake. She developed a good work ethic at a young age and worked on the family farm and had a part-time job on the weekends at Sioux Valley Log Cabin.
Gladys met the love of her life, Norman Fricke, at the Checkerboard Dance Hall and they were united in marriage on July 27, 1952. They lived in various small towns in Minnesota, and settled in Round Lake. They started a family and nine children were born, Carol, Allan, June, Jane, Diane, Norman, Steve, Patricia and Betty. Gladys worked at Campbell Soup Company for thirty six years. She retired in February of 1996.
She loved collecting angels, quilting, baking, feeding and watching the birds, gardening, flower gardens, putting puzzles together, doing circle word books, playing hearts on her tablet and checking out Facebook to see the latest pictures and activities of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Gladys was an avid fan of the Minnesota Vikings, Twins and any sports team her grandkids and great-grandkids played. She enjoyed listening to the radio and most of the time she would listen to some type of sports game or the Grand Ole Opry. Gladys enjoyed doing crafts and took pride in hand crafting Christmas ornaments for the grandchildren and great-grandchildren every year. She loved Celebrating the holidays with her family.
Gladys was very competitive when playing pinochle, hand and foot or board games. She looked forward to the annual fishing trips with her sisters and brothers to Alexandria.
She was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church, in Round Lake, for many years; the Ladies Aide, Quilting for Missions, making floral arrangements, decorating for Christmas and being of service to the church.
