GLORIA OPAL SELMA FREDERICKSON, age 90, of Worthington, died Thursday, January 2, 2020, at the Country View Manor in Sibley, IA. She was born January 24, 1929, in Reading, to Hjalmer O. and Selma A. (Johnson) Soderholm. Gloria was raised on a farm in Elk Township in Nobles County. She attended country school in District #29 and graduated from the Worthington High School in 1946. She pursed a teaching degree at Mankato State receiving a BS and MS degree.

Gloria was an elementary teacher for thirty six years and taught in District #86 in Jackson County, District #8 in Nobles County, Fulda and Mountain Lake. She lived in the Lake Minnetonka area for twenty eight years where she taught. Gloria always tried to have a positive impact on her student's education in the elementary grades.

Gloria was united in marriage to Glenn Frederickson on December 20, 1969 in Wayzata. The couple lived in Minnetonka and retired to Worthington in 1984. They had a wonderful marriage and enjoyed working, traveling, family, friends and their home.

She was a member of the First Covenant Church in Worthington and Worthington Hospital Auxiliary, Worthington Garden Club, Homewood Hills Neighborhood Club, Sunset Hospice Cottage, Pioneer Village, Christian Women, WAREA, REAM, MEA and NEA. She was also a member of the Elk Tip Toppers 4H Club and Nobles Rural Youth. Gloria liked Voluntary work and going to the farm. She enjoyed flowers, genealogy, travel, nature, and reading in her home.

Gloria is survived by her step daughter, Janyce Wandrei, Plymouth; sister-in-law, Opal Soderholm, Slayton; five step grandchildren; and many Soderholm and Hill nieces and nephews and their families.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sisters, Violet Hill and Fern Soderholm; brothers, Garvin and Leland Soderholm; and a nephew, Alan Soderholm.

Memorial service will be 11 am Saturday at the Dingmann Funeral Home in Worthington with a time of fellowship one hour prior to the service. A private family committal of cremains will precede the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
