GLORIA G. SARGENT, age 82, of Luverne, died Sunday, September 11, 2011, at the Sanford Hospital in Luverne. She was born November 8, 1928, in Sargent, NE, to Kenneth and Maude (Coggins) Sargent.
Gloria graduated from Gibbon High School in 1947 and then attended Kearney State Teachers College, in Kearney, NE, and obtained her teaching degree. She taught country school in the central Nebraska area. She lived with her parents who owned & operated The Verne Drive Inn where she worked until 1969. She then moved with her parents to Grand Island, NE. In 1997, Gloria moved back to Luverne. She became a resident of the Tuff Memorial Home, in Hills, in 2001.
Gloria is survived by her two nephews, Tom (Karla) Sargent, Sioux Falls, SD; and Danny (Suzanne) Hawke, Broken Bow, NE; and a sister-in-law, Eleanor Sargent, Sioux Falls, SD.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Louis Sargent; and her sister, Dean Hawke.
A memorial service will be at 2:30 pm Friday at the Tuff Memorial Home in Hills. A memorial service will also be at 11 am Saturday, October 8, at the United Methodist Church in Broken Bow, NE. Burial of cremains will be at the Westlawn Cemetery in Grand Island, NE.
