GRACE STOEVER, age 100 of Worthington, died, Thursday, February 2, 2012, at South Shore Care Center in Worthington. She was born April 18, 1911 in Lily, South Dakota to parents, Herman and Josephine (Sellman) Lamaack. Grace was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at St. John's Lutheran Church in Okabena. She attended country school at the red white and blue school in Springfield Township. After her schooling she remained on the family farm in Springfield Township.
Grace was united in marriage to Albert Stoever on June 23, 1930 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Okabena. They farmed in the Windom, Westbrook area and later moved to the Delft area. When her husband entered the nursing home she moved to Okabena Towers in Worthington where she remained for over 30 years. Grace later moved to assisted living at Golden Horizons until she became a resident of South Shore Care Center.
She was currently a member of American Lutheran Church in Worthington. She was also a member of RSVP and the hospital auxiliary and enjoyed doing volunteer work. Grace was the Nobles County outstanding senior citizen in 1985. She did knitting, crocheting and made many afghans for her family and friends. She liked Bingo and enjoyed playing five hundred. In recent years her favorite past time was watching birds and enjoying sunsets; and spending time with her children & grandchildren. Grace was an exceptional woman, who was loved deeply by her family and will greatly missed by all who knew her.
Grace is survived by her children, Robert (Wilma) Stoever, Dade City, FL; Joan (Mel) Johnson, Worthington; Glen (Sue) Stoever, Eden Prairie, MN and Barbara (Jim) Williams, Worthington; daughter-in-law, Barb Eigenberg, Heron Lake, MN; 15 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren and 13 great-great grandchildren; a sister, Bertha Mix, Windom,
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Albert; son, Russel Stoever on October 6, 1975; one great grandchild; two brothers and two sisters.
