GUY EDWIN WILLIAMS, age 89, of Worthington, died, Friday, September 5, 2008 at Sunset Hospice Cottage in Worthington. He was born February 9, 1919 in Neosho, Missouri to parents Ben and Carrie (Rollings) Williams. Guy graduated from Neosho High School in Neosho, Missouri in 1936. At the age of 14 and thru his teen age years he began entering model planes and coaches in the Fischer Craftsmanship Guild state competitions. He was successful in winning in many of the events. This led to his lifelong interest in woodworking and airplanes. He then moved on to Detroit, Michigan and attended Laurence Tech majoring in Aeronautical Engineering. World War II interrupted his studies in Michigan and he moved to St. Louis, Missouri where he worked for Laister Kaufman Aircraft building gliders for the war effort. While in St. Louis he met and later married Ardis Finke Quiram in Worthington, Minnesota where they made their home for 59 years. In Worthington Guy and Jay Hvistendahl started Guy Manufacturing, a business of cabinetry and included a hobby shop. After 36 years in the business he retired in 1982. Guy is survived by his wife, Ardis Williams, Worthington; grandchildren, Brent Quiram, Iowa City, IA; Bradley Quiram, Fairmont, MN; one great grandchild, Kyle; daughter-in-law, Martha Quiram, Worthington; also surviving are many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one step son, Darrell Quiram, two sisters and two brothers.
