Glenn Leech of Luverne, MN, Spicer, MN, and Naples FL, flew west April 6, 2011 at the age of 91. Glenn was born Jan 3, 1920 on a farm near Beaver Creek, MN to Harry and Aimee Leech. He became interested in flying in 1938, began lessons and soon bought an Aeronca Chief aircraft, the first airplane in Rock County. After becoming a flight instructor in Sioux Falls, he was hired by the Army Air Corps as an instructor training WWII pilots in PT-19 aircraft in Cuero, Texas. It was there that Glenn married Clarice Viola Thompson of Hills, MN in 1943. Glenn started flying for Mid Continent Airlines in 1943. Mid Continent merged with Braniff International Airways in 1952 and Glenn flew throughout the world until his retirement in 1980. Along the way Captain Glenn flew Lockheed Loadstars, DC2, DC3, DC6, BAC 111, DC8, B707, B720, B727, and B747. Vi passed away in 1972 and Glenn married Tanella Harlan (Teak) in 1974. Glenn leaves brother Gerald Leech of Luverne, MN, 5 children: Grayle Leech (Miriam), Gary Leech (Sue), Roxanne Realmuto (Bill), Linda Hanson (Don) and Mike Leech (Jill), 4 stepchildren: Char Gregory (Lance), Deb Harlan, Bud Harlan and Andy Peterson (Marc), 19 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, family prefers donation to establish a scholarship for underprivileged students to participate in aviation education camp and careers in Glenn?s name.
