HAROLD AUGUST PRIESZ, age 92, of Luverne, died Monday, April 10, 2006, at the Tuff Memorial Home, in Hills. He was born May 27, 1913, in rural Luverne, Mound Township, to Albert and Mary (Hamann) Priesz. Harold attended country school district #10 in Rock County. He later attended Nettleton Business School, in Sioux Falls, SD. Harold married Helen Kelm on October 28, 1936, in Sioux Falls, SD. After their marriage, the couple lived in Luverne where Harold worked at Connel Chevrolet. In 1944, the couple moved to rural Luverne where they farmed for twenty years. They moved back into Luverne in 1963 and Harold worked at IBP until retiring in 1983. He was a lifetime member of St. John Lutheran Church, in Luverne where he helped build the church. Harold was also a charter member the Rock County Sportsman Club. He enjoyed watching baseball, playing cards, dancing, camping and fishing with his two sons-in-law. Harold is survived by his two daughters and sons-in-law, Norma & Bruce Wing, Pipestone; and Janet & David Newell, Sioux Falls, SD; four grandchildren, Shelli (Dale) Van Westen, Patti (Joe) Stoddard, Marcia (Todd) Suda & Rhonda (Keith) Yochem; and twelve great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Helen, in 1996; and a brother, Alvin. A tree will be dedicated in memory of Harold Priesz, by Hospice of Sioux Valley Luverne Hospital.
