Obituary

HAROLD ?SPECK?S? REITMEIER, age 82, of Bigelow, died Friday, June 24, 2011, at his home. He was born on August 31, 1928, in Jolley, IA, to parents Herman and Tena (Duis) Reitmeier. He attended Jolley Elementary School and Ledyard School. Harold married Lettie Freeman on December 23, 1950 in Jackson, MN. During his marriage he farmed on the home place in Mallard, IA until 1956. The couple then moved to Bigelow in 1957 and Harold worked at the Texaco gas station in Bigelow and also worked for the Campbell Soup Company in Worthington for 31 ? years, retiring in 1989. He was a member of St. Matthew?s Lutheran Church in Worthington, the Eagles Club in Worthington and the Bigelow Fire Department. He was also on the city council in Bigelow for six years. Harold enjoyed fishing and camping at Round Lake. His family was very important to him. Harold is survived by his devoted wife of sixty years, Lettie Reitmeier, Bigelow, MN; four children, Diane (Jim) Vellema, Windom, MN; Allen (Connie) Reitmeier, Bigelow, MN; James (Ardella) Reitmeier, Brewster, MN; and Janice (David) Henningsen, Sibley, IA; ten grandchildren, Tina (Gene) Anderson, Teresa (Shawn) Haken, Jodi (Chad) Vogel, Jason (Stacy) Reitmeier, Joni (Ryan) Weber, Amie (Paul) Croatt, Jamie (Maggie) Reitmeier, Jesse (Cathy) Reitmeier and Evan and Mystic Henningsen, fourteen great-grandchildren, Austin and Mitchell Haken, Jacob and Hannah Anderson, Jack and Ellee Vogel, Wyatt and Josie Reitmeier, Jordis Weber, Alaina and Samantha Reitmeier, Alexis and Reese Croatt and William Reitmeier, one sister, Grace (Herman) Askeland, Jr., Armstrong, IA; two sisters-in-law, Doe Reitmeier, St. Paul, MN and Dona Reitmeier, Bigelow, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Cassie (Dorothy) Reitmeier, Enno (Evelyn) Reitmeier, Jack Reitmeier, George Reitmeier, sisters, Tillie (Earl) Messer, Eldora (Wilbur) Pierce, Katherine (Frank) Smith, LuEtta (Robert) Lottman, Helen (James) Hawley.
