HAROLD SCHUTZ, age 84, of Prior Lake, formerly of Adrian, died Saturday, January 5, 2013, at Keystone Assisted Living, in Prior Lake, after a struggle with cancer. He was born September 20, 1928, in Adrian, to Leonard and Grace (DeGroot) Schutz. He served his country in the United States Army.
Harold married Joanne Peters on September 4, 1954, in Milbank, SD. After their marriage, the couple lived near Adrian. Harold was a prominent farmer.
He was a member of St. Adrian Catholic Church where he served on the Finance Committee & taught high school religious education. Harold was active in the community. He was Chairman of the Adrian Cooperative Elevator Board; and Secretary of the Little Rock Township Board. He was also an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed spending time hunting in the West and fishing in Canada.
Harold is survived by his wife, Joanne Schutz, Prior Lake; two sons, Ron (Janet) Schutz, Medina; and Jeff (Sherrill) Schutz, Alexandria; two daughters, Jeanne (Jeff) Reed, Alexandria; and Jennifer Wocelka, Savage; ten grandchildren; Matthew (Liam Henderson) Schutz, Erik (Erin) Schutz, Kristin Schutz, Teresa (Jeff) Esler, Brent (Diane) Schutz, Sarah, Anthony & Will Reed and Sam & Sydney Wocelka; and a great granddaughter, Sloane Esler.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Mary Kay; infant great grandchildren, Jacob & Emma; and a brother, Donald.
