Obituary

HARVARD ?BUD? ROZEBOOM, age 81, of Leota, died Friday, November 12, 2010, at the Edgebrook Care Center in Edgerton. He was born August 23, 1929, in Rock County, to John and Anna (Eekhoff) Rozeboom. Bud was raised around Edgerton and graduated from Edgerton Christian School. His father died from a one car accident in 1940. Bud farmed with his mother and siblings for several years. Bud married Clara Kooiker on June 20, 1951, in Edgerton. They were married for fifty nine years and were blessed with four daughters. They farmed in the Edgerton area. Bud also worked at various jobs. The family moved to Leota in the spring of 1960. He had a passion for the care of the land and work done well. Just before retiring, their farm was totally destroyed on June 16, 1992 by the Buffalo Ridge tornado. The family rebuilt a home on their land closer yet to Leota. Bud loved to go back and forth to the rebuilt farmyard as did the rest of the family. His best memories are times spent with his children, grandchildren, neighbors & friends. He was a member of Ebenezer Christian Reformed Church, in Leota, since 1960 where he had served as Deacon and also on other various area boards. Bud liked to read and watch the Minnesota Twins. He especially liked to travel to Tenstrike, MN and ride the pontoon on Gull Lake with the Pomp families. Bud is survived by his wife, Clara Rozeboom, Leota; four daughters, Joyce (Steve) Pomp, Tenstrike; Connie Witzel, Hawarden, IA; Sharon (Dave) Kuik, Leota; and Beth Van Essen, Sioux Falls, SD; twelve grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; a sister, Josie Schaap, Edgerton; two brothers, George Rozeboom, Lynden, WA; and Marvin (Alma) Rozeboom, Leota; and Harriet (John) Vander Haar, Edgerton; several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, and many nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law, Greg Witzel, in 2005; three brothers, William, Elmer & Vernon Rozeboom; brother-in-law, Louis Schaap; and three sisters-in-law, Elizabeth, Leola & Emma.
