HARVEY "BUZZ" HITCH, age 86, of Luverne, died Thursday, March 1, 2007, at the Sanford Luverne Hospital. He was born February 16, 1921, in Doniphan, NE, to Harley and Margaret (Wiggers) Hitch. Harvey attended grade school in Doniphan and later attended country school Dist. #50 in rural Luverne. He served his country in the United States Army during WWII fighting overseas in Luxemburg, Belgium, France & Germany in the Battle of the Bulge. Harvey married Alvina Smeins on November 12, 1943, in Luverne. After their marriage, the couple lived in Luverne, where Harvey worked as a mechanic & gas station manager for Sam Volratrh; and later, Eli Walgrave; and finally, Russ Ripley. After retiring, Harvey enjoyed being outdoors mowing lawns & blowing snow. He was a member of the Luverne American Legion; and the Luverne VFW. He enjoyed helping people & doing volunteer work. Harvey is survived by his wife, Alvina Hitch, Luverne; daughter, Kathy Schadwinkel, Luverne; son, Harvey L. Hitch, Rochester; three grandchildren, Todd, Harvey, L. & Cheryl; five great grandchildren; and many nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Wilfred "Buster" & Ronald Hitch. Blessed Be His Memory.
