HENDRINE F. BRINK, age 87, of Worthington, died Saturday, May 18, 2008 at her home. She was born on June 9, 1920, to Andrew and Christine (Ruisch) VanDerMaaten. She was raised near Alton, Iowa, where she attended school through the eighth grade. Hendrine was united in marriage to Norman B. Brink on August 21, 1942 and accompanied him to Hanover, California, when he was drafted into the army, returning to Iowa when he went overseas. After his military service they farmed near Maurice, Iowa for one year before moving to Rushmore, in 1948, where she lived until moving into the Meadows in Worthington in 2006. In addition to helping on the farm she also worked as a waitress. To escape the cold winters they traveled to Brownsville, TX for 15 years beginning in 1979 where she enjoyed dancing, playing cards and walking. Hendrine was a former member of the First Presbyterian Church in Rushmore and a current member of the American Reformed Church in Worthington. After Norm died she volunteered at the Headstart and Rushmore Preschool and always looked forward to ?seeing the little ones.? She was an avid reader and enjoyed sharing books with others. Hendrine is survived by three children and their spouses, Don and Kris Brink, Rushmore; Nancy and Roger Mussetter, Menomonie, WI; and Gary and Phyllis Brink, Rushmore; nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one sister-in-law, Ruth Van DerMaaten, Orange City, IA. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Norman on October 13, 1999, one sister, Lois Hofmeyer, two brothers, Frank and Willard VanDerMaaten.
